This is real 24 karat gold layered over a core of semi-precious metals. While it is thicker than standard electroplating, it is not solid gold.  The gold that covers the core is real.

We put 20 layers of gold on our core.  Standard electroplate puts 2 layers.

Yes, but we advise that you take it off before swimming or showering. That will help it last longer. 

Because this is plated gold, there always is a chance it can start wearing down.  That’s why we offer the lifetime guarantee - which means that if it ever should tarnish, you may exchange it for a new one, no questions asked.

On very few people it may cause an allergic reaction which could include leaving a green mark on your skin.  This is caused by an allergic reaction to nickel.  We keep the nickel down to a minimum but some very sensitive people have a reaction to it.  In that case, we’ll be happy to refund you.

You may but we advise against it.  Keeping it away from the chlorine, sea salt, and other harsh chemicals like certain soaps will make it last longer.
